2025-Ongoing

This photographic project examines the emotional contradictions within traditional Chinese family dynamics, focusing on the concept of paradoxical love. In many families, love is expressed through control, sacrifice, and high expectations—forms of care that also carry pressure and restraint. This duality creates a tension between protection and possession, between nurture and control.

Through staged and observational imagery, the project visualizes how such emotional contradictions shape the child’s sense of identity and belonging. It reflects a broader cultural condition where love is often inseparable from duty, silence, and sacrifice.
